The holiday countdown has begun

Christmas Tree Lighting, Idaho Falls, Yellowstone Teton Territory

There’s no better place than the Yellowstone Teton Territory to celebrate the holidays. This month, the festive cheer comes in entertainment for all ages, all month long!

The Rexburg Tabernacle Orchestra→ will wow audience members at their Fall Concert with a program of movie favorites this  Thursday, November 6 at 7:30 pm in the Rexburg Tabernacle. Free to the public, the evening will feature classical works used in musicals, movie soundtracks and even cartoons.

Listeners will realize the music they heard in “Bugs Bunny” cartoons were actually classical themes.   As Mark Seare, RTOrchestra director says, “Because music reflects feelings, classical music has been used in all types of media to set the mood or feeling, like giving you a sense of impending doom, or tender music for a ‘happy ending’, to enhance the visuals.” Other music selections include “West Side Story,” themes of Mozart from the movie, “Amadeus;” and more recognizable music of composers such as Grieg, Rossini and others.

The Idaho Falls Tree Lighting and Holiday Market was just announced for November 22, 2025. Hosted by the Idaho Falls Downtown Development Corporation & the City of Idaho Falls, this annual community gathering is the perfect way to get an early start on candy canes, unique gifts and take in the holiday spirit.

Bring the whole family from 4 to 8 pm down to Civitan Plaza on Memorial Drive for over seventy vendors—the perfect place to find a Thanksgiving hostess gift or one-of-a-kind stocking stuffer. The horse-drawn trolley will run rides from  3-5 pm and Santa arrives on the Broadway Plaza for the tree lighting at 7 pm.

After the afternoon of merriness, head to the Idaho Falls Symphony to catch the world-renowned Violin soloist Simone Porter as she makes her IF Symphony debut, performing the Violin Concerto of Ludwig van Beethoven at Frontier Center for the Performing Arts.

On Thanksgiving Day, before the cooking begins, join the 2025 Thanksgiving Choir for their annual Thanksgiving program in the Rexburg Tabernacle→ at 10:00 a.m on the 27th.

The following weekend, keep up the tradition with the World Ballet Company: Nutcracker→ or find the levity this holiday season with The Forgotten Carols Musical→ on Nov. 29, at the Frontier Center Auditorium.

Featuring 40 world-class dancers, over 150 sparkling hand-sewn costumes, and breathtaking hand-crafted sets, World Ballet Company’s enchanting production of the beloved “Nutcracker” is the quintessential holiday must-do.

The Forgotten Carols Musical features a plotline infused with heartwarming melodies and a laugh-out-loud Christmas story. Hear your favorite songs,  like “Homeless,” from Michael McLean’s original hit album.
