Annual Snowscapes is now the official Idaho State Snow Sculpting Championship

There is nothing more unique in the Yellowstone Teton Territory than Driggs’ annual snow carving festival.
This year marks an exciting milestone: Snowscapes is now the official Idaho State Snow Sculpting Championship. With the former McCall competition no longer operating, Snowscapes now carries forward this statewide artistic tradition. Ten teams in total will compete, with artists traveling from Montana, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Michigan, and Colorado, along with talented sculptors from across Idaho and Teton Valley.Â
Where Snow
Becomes Art
The 14th Annual Driggs Snowscapes: The Art of Sculpting Snow→, taking place January 19–24, 2026, outdoors at Driggs Plaza, 60 South Main Street. This beloved free public art event transforms downtown Driggs into a spectacular outdoor art gallery, showcasing monumental snow sculptures carved over five days by teams of talented artists from across the country.
Carving Idaho’s
Winter Legacy
Construction for Snowscapes begins January 9, when Mills Concrete installs ten 8x8x8-foot forms on Driggs Plaza, along with six smaller Quick Sculpt forms. On January 14, Driggs Public Works, MD Landscaping, DDA staff, and dedicated community volunteers will fill the forms with roughly 50 tons of snow produced by the snowmaking machine. After a brief settling period over the weekend, the forms are removed, revealing the solid blocks that become each team’s sculpting canvas. Sculpting officially begins Monday, January 19, and continues through Friday, January 23, when the final bell rings at 5 pm and all tools must be set down.Â

DON’T MISS OUT: The Final Frost: A New All-Day Celebration
Snowscapes’ Community Block Party and Driggs Snow Ball have been combined and reimagined as The Final Frost—an all-day winter celebration happening Saturday, January 24, from 10am to 7pm outdoors on Driggs Plaza, 60 South Main Street. This lively community party honors the sculptors who spend the week carving breathtaking, larger-than-life snow sculptures, sometimes in below-zero temperatures. The Final Frost is the grand finale of Snowscapes, with live music by The Rock Skis, food trucks, activities, and winter fun for all ages.
Grand Targhee Resort→, a title sponsor of the event, will continue the annual tradition of hosting a Snowscapes satellite sculpture created by Team Wyoming of Laramie in collaboration with local artists. This special installation will be carved January 12–16 at The Ghee.Â
