What’s one lesser-known activity that will have you reminiscing for years to come: mushing. Unlike any other experience on the snow, the speed of a dogsled through glistening white cloaked woods will have you hearing the call of the wild—well, actually the Call of the WYld→. Their dogsled tours are available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 8:00 am, 9:30 am, 11:00 am, 1:30 pm, 3:00 pm throughout the winter season at Grand Targhee. Guests are loaded into a dogsled pulled by a team of Alaskan Huskies and driven by one of their qualified guides for a private one-hour excursion.
Even if the snow is running thin, Call of the WYld can still create a unique experience for your friends and family with an alternative dogsled presentation and husky meet & greet. Their presentations run about an hour and share the fascinating history of dog mushing and Jackson Hole. They offer an interactive gear setup, which allows guests to stand on the runners of the sled, and an in-depth look at the different dog breeds used in this sport. Each tour ends with a chance to meet and cuddle some of our star employees: the dogs.

Kelly Canyon’s opening day has not yet been announced but their social feed shows the Big Hole resort is on track and making snow. Their restaurant, Big Jud’s is open for mountainside dining on the weekends (Friday-Sunday, from 11 am to 9 pm). Big Jud’s is a perfect option for anglers taking in the fall fishing on the Snake River or for hot spring goers at Heise Hot Springs to find a satisfying bite after some time in the healing waters.
