It’s Ski Season in the Tetons

It’s Ski Season in the Tetons

One of the only ski areas in America with all its terrain currently open for the 2023-2024 season, Grand Targhee Resort is delivering 2,600 acres of Wydaho powder for skiers and riders this December with a 125” and counting. You have been waiting all year to bust out your powderhound personality, and the wait is now over.

Nordic skiing, fat biking, mountainside spa and dining options for the epicurious, the only thing missing is entertainment–oh no wait, Targhee has that covered too this holiday week. December 30th’s apres hours are music-filled at the World Famous Trap Bar with the local musical duo, Gabel Brothers. The Gabel’s blend traditional bluegrass with modern pop. You’ll be ready to rock your turns on the dancefloor as much as you rocked them on piste after a day of skiing.

If you’re not a downhill dog, be sure to take advantage of Grand Targhee Resort’s 15 km of groomed classic cross-country trails and skate skiing lanes. They wind through wooded glades, aspen groves, and scenic meadows. Need to fine-tune your Nordic skills, book a lesson through the Mountain Sports School.

Missing your bike? Go fat and get riding on Grand Targhee Resort’s 9 miles of groomed track. The Ghee was the first ski resort in the United States to embrace and endorse winter fat bikes on their dedicated Winter Sports Trail System.

On New Year’s Eve,  get ready for the Ghee’s NYE Rail Jam competition open to both men and women of all ages. Registration opens at 1:30 pm. At 4:10, get limber with open practice. The competition starts at 4:50, followed by the awards ceremony at 6 p.m.

Afterwards head to Powder Cache for a pre-fixe menu that includes Prime Rib, Braised Lamb Shank, Winter Root Bourguignon and Cioppino. Reservations are required for this indulgent feast that is accompanied by made-to-order cocktails and an exclusive wine list. Call 307-353-2300 x1368 to book your table today

After dinner, work up a sweat at The Trap with DJ Bernard Foyer. Keeping the dance floor grooving, drinks will be flowing and a midnight champagne toast will top off the night at this light-hearted New Year’s Eve Pajama Party!  After a day of big turns and big air, who needs heels and formal attire? PJs are where it’s at as Grand Targhee says buh-bye to 2023 and HELLO 2024!

This event is 21+. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. And don’t worry about driving, The Ghee has you covered with a free late-night shuttle to downtown Driggs if you’re staying downhill.

And you can always stay longer…in fact, take the week off and take advantage of Grand Targhee’s 25% off skiing and lodging package. Fun for the whole family includes uncrowded slopes, accommodations just steps away from the lifts and 15% off Adult & Junior lift tickets. Kids 5 & under always ski for FREE at the Ghee.

Also part of the package is complimentary on-site ski and snowboard checks, preferred ski and snowboard rental pick-up time: 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm, and access to a complimentary local shuttle access that will take you downhill so you can explore the eclectic and vivid community of Teton Valley’s three towns, Victor, Driggs and Tetonia.

Holiday blackout dates for this season-long deal are December 15, 2023 – January 2, 2024, January 12 – 14, 2024, and February 16 – 18, 2024.
