A Mountain Getaway at Kelly Canyon Resort
Tucked among the trees, the new domes at Kelly Canyon Resort are mountain chic. Within an hour of Idaho Falls, escape to Big Hole serenity with wood-fired hot tubs and leather finishes.Â
Hiking trails are available from your dome; a short drive down the mountain lands you smack dab in the middle of East Idaho’s best outdoor opportunities. Bird chatter will be your alarm clock as you sip your morning coffee amid the towering lodgepole.
In the winter months, the dome is only accessible by ski lift. Before then, these elevated lodgings are reachable with a 4WD vehicle. No matter your mode of travel, be sure to hike or ski down for a visit to Heise Resort which has fully reopened after the Big Rock Fire.

Warm Up at Eastern Idaho’s Natural Hot Springs
The South Fork’s favorite hot spring is fed from a natural mineral hot spring kept at a temperature of about 104 degrees Fahrenheit, perfect for soaking those mountain muscles and joints. There is also a colder pool kept at 96 degrees, an ideal reprieve for kids and families. Heise is open Monday – Friday, 2 -10 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
And don’t forget about the springs on the north end of the range just outside Rexburg: Green Canyon Hot Springs. Nestled in a mountain canyon, this small hot spring resort has a large indoor swimming pool, kept at a soothing 96–100 degrees, and an outdoor hot pool at 104.Â
Kelly Canyon Resort has its fingers crossed for a 2026–2027 season opening date around December 4, 2026, though exact opening days depend on weather and natural snow conditions. Grand Targhee Resort→ is scheduled to open for the 2026–2027 winter season on Friday, November 20.
