It may be cold at The Ice Palace→ but the memories made in Rigby will warm hearts long after the holiday season. After taking last winter off, The Ice Palace officially returns for its 9th year of magical winter fun that can only be found in the Yellowstone Teton Territory.

Shimmering ice tunnels and icy slides are just the beginning of this Eastern Idaho seasonal wonder. With fire performances, fire pits and favorite characters like Elsa, a trip to The Ice Palace isn’t just fun for the whole family, it’s a field trip you might need to schedule more than once this season.

Jim & Shannon Youngstrom, their six kids and their families are the elves behind the holiday magic built by hand, layer by layer, with the help of friends, neighbors and local partners. From freezing hoses in subzero temps to hanging thousands of lights, a trip to The Ice Palace is never the same twice.

With local food and craft vendors, hot chocolate and kiddo friendly sledding hills, this winter must-do is the perfect outing for the short days and long nights.Visit to The Ice Palace can even be capped off with a horse drawn sleigh ride. This winter, dress up as your favorite character from a Galaxy Far Far Away and get 20% off! An epic duel also happens every 30 minutes starting at 6:15 p.m. on the weekends.

The Ice Palace typically stays open through February and offers season passes. 

Soak up everything Rigby and Ririe have to offer by hitting up the best kept secrets like The Great Bambino Restaurant→ and  Heise Hot Springs. After a night of fire and ice, stop in or take out from this favorite Italian hole in the wall known for its bambinos, or mini calzones. Always a crowd pleaser and certainly a local tradition,The Great Bambino is known for quick and casual service. Travel tip: Bambinos make for the perfect road snack before a soak in the mineral rich water of Heise. Could there be a better way to close out a perfectly chill evening?
