ABOUT
The Teton Regional Economic Coalition (TREC) was founded over a decade ago to address several different issues (economic, political, and practical) in the valley. In that time, Teton Valley and TREC have both changed substantially. TREC remains the economic development organization in the valley that is tasked with developing, updating, and advancing Teton County’s Economic Development plan, including tourism, and it maintains a board of directors that represents the public sector with representatives from Teton County government, and an official from the cities of Victor, Driggs, and Tetonia.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Implements the Teton County Economic Development Plan to create higher-wage jobs and diversify the local economy.
- Supports local businesses and startups through business planning, consulting, and technical assistance.
- Connects businesses to financing and resources, including SBA loans, Altura lending programs, and SBDC support.
- Recruits and attracts new businesses that provide higher wages and low environmental impact.
- Facilitates development of commercial and light-industrial space to support growing companies and entrepreneurs.
- Promotes entrepreneurship and small business growth through networking events, training, and mentorship opportunities.
- Manages destination tourism strategy and marketing for Teton Valley to support lodging, retail, and recreation businesses.
- Partners with local governments and organizations (Driggs, Victor, Tetonia, SBDC, Yellowstone Teton Territory, etc.) to coordinate economic development efforts.
- Supports key industry sectors, including recreation technology, food production, construction services, tourism, and creative/tech businesses.
- Advances workforce and community development, including affordable housing, infrastructure planning, and placemaking initiatives.
- Provides economic resilience and crisis coordination, including communication and support during events such as the Teton Pass closure.
